Kathopanishad - Episode 3

3 Kinds Of Suffering (Tapatrayas)

oṁ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ ॥

tapa means difficulty and traya means three. When one recites three shantis, each shanti is dedicated specifically to one of the three types of suffering that every human endures in their lifetime. The three types of suffering are ādhibhautika (related to the body), ādhidaivika (related to the gods/mind) and ādhyātmika (related to the soul).

In this episode, Sadguru explains how Yama teaches the young Nachiketa about That which is beyond these three types of suffering.
