Master the Mind - Episode 8

Buddha Jeevi vs Baddha Jeevi

In the eighth discourse of the Master the Mind series delivered on Buddha Purnima day, Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai enlightens us how man should evolve from leading a life of a baddha jīvī (being bound to the world) to becoming a buddha jīvī (Self-Realised or liberated). Sadguru explains how this metamorphosis can happen, taking the examples of Gautama Buddha and Ramana Maharshi, each a spiritual powerhouse and role model for humanity, as a gṛhasthin or a brahmacārin respectively. Sadguru urges readers to rise above the ordinary realms of existence, bound by sense afflictions and instead, aspire to attain a higher state of being. Laced with nuggets of wisdom from the bhagavadgītā, the upaniṣads and the teachings of Adi Shankaracharya, this talk provides an insightful account to the reader of how, through arduous practice and effort, one can rise above the ephemerality of the world and embrace permanent bliss. Indeed, man’s success on the spiritual path is underpinned by his efforts to release himself from bondage to a life of sense gratification and realise his inherent Divinity.
