About this item
Padma Sri Mandolin U Shrinivas, a virtuoso Indian mandolin maestro and a composer belonging to the classical Carnatic musical tradition of Southern India. He is regarded as the Mozart of classical Indian music and was a child prodigy with a rare combination of knowledge and innovation. Traditonal, but still extremely creative, with his soft enchanting eyes and an ever-smiling face, Sri Shrinivas would captivate audiences of all ages. He was one of the few instrumentalists much favoured by all the music lovers, particularly by his popular renditions of ‘ragasudha rasa’, Bharati’s ‘Chinnanchiru kiliye’, ‘raghunandana’ and ‘O Raghava’.
This book, “A Life in Music” captures the glimpses of his musical journey who was the first to bring the Mandolin into the world of Carnatic music, conceiving a distinct sound and redesigning the instrument.

Though I never had the opportunity of meeting Srinivas ji personally during his lifetime, I always admired his music. After reading this book, I became a die-hard fan of his and understood his music far better. This book has in a way re-created to life his amazing persona. The more I read the testimonies of his associates, the more admiration I have for him. This book is a befitting tribute to this great personality.
What a treasure! Every word and every picture in this book bring out the beauty of the person that Mandolin Srinivas was! Such a well-presented book.
This is a wonderful coffee table book on Late Mandolin Srinivas. It does justice to his glorious life and chalks it out very well from his childhood until his death. It covers all the beautiful moments and achievements. I loved all his childhood pictures, and those with Sathya Sai Baba. It is a very authentic, must have book. Indeed, a beautiful homage to this divine soul!
